Quote: | The Western Hockey League governors will vote on the sale of the team to Calgary businessman Bill Gallacher on Wednesday, after the league's general managers and governors meet in Calgary, Alberta. All along, it's been expected that the deal would be approved, and the WHL plans to have a Wednesday afternoon news conference, according to spokesman Cory Flett. |
Wednesday October 15th, will it go down in Winter Hawks history? There a speculated wholesale changes in the mix. |

it's pretty obvious to say, but this potential sale and all the changes that come with it can only do good for the franchise. it would be hard to be worse off the we are with JJJ. i hope we have seen this club go as low as it can go, and i think the future it quite bright! |

I think the future is bright too. The youngsters are going to have an opportunity to gel and mesh these next few years. Cannot wait to see Ty Rattie next year. |

Interesting quote from greenout92 on the O'live forum:
Quote: | News from a very reliable source says that the sale of the Winter Hawks will very likely fall through tomorrow. Source says the ownership group raised the price of the team to 8.6 mil which pushed the new buyers out. But a bright side to this is that the owners have put in a bid to purchase the old replay screens from PGE park and put them in the coliseum before the team gets back from the road trip.

More rumors/speculation coming from various sources of Hawksdude.
Quote: | My sources have said that the sale of the Winter Hawks is a done deal. An annoucement could come as early as tomorrow afternoon after the WHL Governors/Owners meeting though it might not be announced until Thursday or Friday morning.
Everyone should also expect an announcement about the new lease with the Rose Quarter early next week.
Good times are around the corner! |
Quote: | The transition will be very quick between old and new ownership. From what I have learned Hodge will be around as a "special consultant to the owner" through this season, and Kromm will be around as an associate coach or a consultant (both titles are really the same probably), Gustafson is also going to play a role, probably something in player development.
The new front office management is already working behind the scenes and has been for awhile. The league wants the transistion to go quick to put all the bad stuff behind them. |
I think that keeping Kromm and others around will be a good thing for the team. Head coach just might not be his cup of tea in the WHL, but I believe that he can help the team. Keeping some consistency around will be a key in future success of the the Hawks. |
